I recently stayed at Icelandic Cottages for a few days to witness the breathtaking northern lights. The location was ideal, offering unobstructed views of the sky for miles in every direction. The cottage itself was fully equipped with everything we needed and more - from a stocked kitchen with baking supplies to a helpful binder full of local recommendations. The owner, Rosa, was extremely attentive and made our stay truly memorable. I can't recommend this place enough.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The open-plan living/dining room is super cozy and has a big flat-screen TV with tons of channels. Perfect for chilling after a long day of exploring. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher and oven, making it easy to cook your own meals and save some money. The bedrooms are bright and airy, and the black-out curtains ensure a good night's sleep. Every unit has a private bathroom with a hair dryer, so no need to worry about packing one. If you're into cultural stuff, Tre Og List and Turf House are nearby and worth checking out. The bathrooms have showers and complimentary toiletries, so you have everything you need. Some units even have a terrace or balcony, which is great for enjoying the fresh air.

Personally, I found the complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms a bit underwhelming, but hey, everyone has different preferences.

The decoration of the cottage was lovely, with cozy furniture and beautiful artwork that made me feel right at home. The general areas of the hotel were well-maintained and easily accessible for senior people like myself. The children working there were always helpful and made sure I had everything I needed.

I would have liked to see more handrails in the hallways and staircases to ensure the safety of senior guests.

Tricky location for airport and city access.

We had a great time during our romantic escape! The cottages were clean and the beds were super comfortable. The spacious layout was perfect for a couple and the well-equipped kitchen made it easy for us to cook our own meals. The location was ideal for exploring the golden circle and the southern coast. We also appreciated the easy parking and the fact that the cottages had good wifi, which allowed us to relax and watch Netflix after a long day of adventure.

While our overall experience was fantastic, there were a couple of minor downsides. We did encounter a few flies inside the cottage, even though we were careful to keep doors and windows closed.

It made it easy for me to move around comfortably and enjoy all the amenities without any trouble.

I would have asked for better seating options in the living area for senior people. The children working there were very helpful, but the sofas were a bit low and not as supportive for elder guests.

A mind-blowing location in a lava field with jaw-dropping views of volcanoes, plus a super helpful host! The fully-equipped kitchen with a pod coffee machine and ice-maker was a pleasant surprise. Comfy beds, satellite TV with heaps of UK stations, and a sweet deck for relaxing were just the cherry on top. The efficient washer/dryer and outside drying line were convenient. Excellent location for day trips to Golden Circle, Vik, and Westman Islands. Thank you Rosa, our 4 nights here were simply amazing.

Loved the chic and modern interiors, especially the fully equipped kitchen. The large terrace with a gas BBQ was perfect for entertaining. And let's not forget the thrilling experience of sharing the property with other guests in my party. Fun times!

Oh, I just can't think of a single thing that could have possibly gone wrong during my stay. It was just perfect!

We had a fantastic Xmas stay in the cottages, with clean and comfortable accommodations. the kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials, and we loved the extra touches like board games and a washer/dryer in the unit. the location was perfect for our adventures, being centrally located and only 15 minutes away from Selfoss. the beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring.

There weren't many amenities close by, such as gas stations and grocery stores, which were all about a 15-minute drive away. this wasn't a major issue as it allowed us to enjoy the peaceful and quiet surroundings of the cottages.

The cozy sitting areas were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the stunning views of the Icelandic landscape. As a senior woman, I truly appreciated the accessibility of the cottages. There were no stairs to navigate, and everything was conveniently located on one level, making it easy for me to get around and feel comfortable.

I would have loved to have more assistance from the staff in terms of activities and recommendations specifically suited for senior people. While the children working there were friendly, I think having some tailored suggestions for older guests would have made for an even better vacation experience.

We had an amazing week at Icelandic Cottages, a truly memorable time for our family. the cottage was absolutely perfect and I can't think of anything that could be improved at all! Rosa was so welcoming and friendly she gave us lots of tips on where to visit, showed us how everything in the house worked and even baked us bread! ! the house was impeccably clean and had literally everything we needed for our stay from toiletries to store cupboard ingredients and clingfilm for packed lunches whilst touring the sites! If we ever visit Iceland again we'd definitely stay at Rosa's house, the perfect home from home and a holiday we will never forget. Wonderful views made all the more better by the comfort of the house after a long day exploring. We stayed with our 3 teenagers and the wifi was a godsend in the evenings. Very highly recommended!

Great location, just a short drive from popular tourist attractions in South Iceland. Well-equipped and modern cottages with amazing views. Helpful and friendly host who provided useful local tips and made our stay comfortable.

Only one bathroom for a three-bedroom apartment, which was not enough for six people. the absence of a dryer in one of the cottages was a bit disappointing.
